Delta Upsilon, founded in 1834 at Williams College, Massachusetts and established in 1935 on the Alberta campus, is the world’s largest and oldest non-secret fraternity.
There are no secrets with Delta Upsilon. No secret rituals. No secret oaths. No hazing. We are proud of what Delta Upsilon stands for and we want to share that pride with the world. You and your parents may, and should, know what Delta Upsilon stands for. And parents are always welcome at our Chapter House, regardless of time or date.
Delta Upsilon is founded on four principles: the promotion of friendship, the development of character, the diffusion of liberal culture, and the advancement of justice. These principles have allowed men to come together, regardless of particular interests, and create a culture of success that has taught men to expect nothing less than excellence from themselves and their Brothers.
This culture has produced such notable Alberta Alumni as Peter Lougheed, Eldon Foote, and Francis Winspear, all of whom, like many other alumni, remain or remained actively involved with Delta Upsilon their entire post-graduation lives. But this culture remains to this day, with the Active Chapter boasting varsity athletes, world level competitors in debate and music, the highest GPA of any U of A Greek letter organizations, and a philanthropy effort exceeding that of the rest of the Greek community combined. It is this culture of success, and openness that makes Delta Upsilon different.
What makes Delta Upsilon a great place is not that everyone shares the same
particular passions and goals, but that regardless of what one's passions and
goals are, the Brothers of Delta Upsilon will help you achieve it.
